VEHICLE SECURITY

The days of leaving your vehicle unlocked are simply over. Even though we may still expect to come back to our car with everything intact, it is not worth the trouble of replacing valuables items stolen from your vehicle.

Here are a few ways you can secure your vehicle

  • Lock the doors. Yeah, I know that is pretty obvious but it is still one of the leading causes of thefts regarding the contents of a vehicle.
  • Secure your valuables somewhere other than inside of your vehicle. Leaving a GPS unit in the windshield is basic advertisement for a thief.
  • Park in a well-lit, open area when possible.
  • If you own a truck, secure the tailgate. You can find many after-market locks for a tailgate at almost any auto-parts store and most are easy to install yourself.
  • Have a professional grade security system installed. Products such as Viper, Python, LoJack, and PowerLock offer great security.
  • Make several slices through your license plate registration sticker after it has been placed on the plate. This will help prevent the theft of your decal.
  • Always check your vehicle for items missing. If you are not very attentive, you may find that something was stolen out of your vehicle weeks before it was noticed missing.
  • Utilize the locking glove compartment if your vehicle is equipped.
